The Stony Point Tigers battled the Hendrickson Hawks in a thrilling, high-scoring Week 2 matchup Thursday night, falling just short in a 51–45 final. Despite the loss, the Tigers showed resilience and explosive playmaking throughout the night as they continued competing under first-year head coach Dustin Pleasant.
Running back Aiden Loyden provided a spark for the Tigers’ offense, rushing with determination and elusiveness. Loyden consistently found running lanes, used sharp jukes to make defenders miss, and turned tough carries into valuable yards for Stony Point.
The Tigers’ passing attack lead by Brady Davis also featured big contributions from receivers Brodie Leal and Olamide Aroworade. Both receivers stepped up to make important plays, helping move the chains and keeping the offense in the fight during the back-and-forth contest.
Defensively, Tyler Stidman made his presence felt with several key stops for the Tigers. His effort and physicality helped Stony Point battle through a fast-paced game in which every possession mattered.
Although Hendrickson earned its first win under first-year head coach Adam Naron and improved to 1–1, the Tigers showed plenty of fight and promise in the close loss. Stony Point, now 0–2 after its season opener against Glenn was cut short by inclement weather, will look to build on the strong individual performances and continue its search for its first victory of the season.
The Tigers return to action Friday, Sept. 11th at Reeves Stadium against Waco University.
