The Stony Point Tigers opened the 2026 football season Thursday night, beginning a new chapter under first-year head coach Dustin Pleasant. The Tigers showed early energy and resilience in their home opener against the Glenn Grizzlies, but the contest was ultimately canceled just short of halftime because of severe weather, with Glenn holding a 14–3 lead.
Stony Point came out strong in front of its home crowd, setting the tone for Coach Pleasant’s first game at the helm. Quarterback Brady Davis helped lead the Tigers’ offense, while sophomore quarterback Kaden Smith also saw action and gained valuable experience as Stony Point worked to establish momentum.
Glenn made several key plays before the weather stoppage. Grizzlies standout Evan Blair rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown and added 19 receiving yards. The Tigers’ defense continued to compete throughout the shortened game, but Stony Point was unable to capitalize on enough offensive opportunities before lightning and weather conditions brought the night to an early close.
While the 14–3 result placed the Tigers at 0–1, the night represented more than the score. It marked the beginning of the Dustin Pleasant era and offered a foundation for the team to build on moving forward. With Davis providing leadership and Smith gaining important varsity reps, Stony Point will look to carry that early promise into the rest of the season.
The Tigers return to action Thursday at 7 p.m. against Hendrickson.
