Led by another strong performance from Senior Running Back Andrew Hill and a stout defense, Stony Point emerged with a 19-0 win over the Pflugerville Panthers in their final non-district game of the 2023 season.
After trading possessions to start the game, the Tigers opened the scoring in the first quarter when Sophomore Quarterback Kinnick Kalbus found Junior Wide Receiver Andrew Gomez over the top of the Pflugerville defense for a 56-yard touchdown reception. After the extra point was converted by Junior Kicker Noah Lopez, the Tigers held a 7-0 lead. As it turned out, that’s all Stony Point would need as the defense gathered their first shutout of the season.

The Stony Point defense delivered an impressive performance against Pflugerville by effectively neutralizing their running game. They limited Pflugerville to a mere 35 yards on 17 rushing attempts, making it a challenging task for the Panthers to establish their ground attack and forcing them to rely heavily on their passing game. The Tiger secondary rose to the occasion, demonstrating great coverage and ball-hawking skills in the passing game. The Panthers never seriously threatened to score until the game was in hand in the 4th quarter.

Andrew Hill continued his strong season performance by contributing 138 yards on the ground, including a 63 yard touchdown dash in the 2nd Quarter that brought the crowd to their feet. Senior Quarterback Aden Green rounded out the Tigers scoring with a 1-yard touchdown plunge in the 4th Quarter.

Stony Point will open district play on Friday, September 15 against the undefeated and state ranked Vandegrift Vipers at Dragon Stadium at 7:00 PM.
